- How much should I charge for a dozen cookies?
- Work it up from cost: batch ingredients and your hours divided by the dozens the batch makes, plus packaging per dozen. That is your cost floor. Add a margin that covers market fees, fuel and the batches that spread, and you have a defensible price rather than a copied one.
- Why price by the dozen instead of per cookie?
- Because that is how cookies sell and how the costs behave: packaging comes per box, batches divide into dozens cleanly, and customers compare dozen prices. The per-cookie figure falls out at the end for anyone selling singles at a counter.
- What margin do cookie sellers need?
- More than most expect. The margin has to carry everything outside ingredients and hours: stall fees, fuel, electricity, boxes bought in bulk that spoil, and the batch that came out wrong. Sellers running tight margins discover them one slow market at a time.
- Do decorated cookies price differently?
